Dear Parents and Website Visitors:
We are well into our second trimester. Temperatures are dropping and basketball is underway.
The PTCC is sponsoring a Movie Night on December 30th and Eighth Graders will have a Bottle Drive on January 3rd. Also coming up is our Winter Concert on January 15th and a Basket Raffle for 8th grade on January 31st. We hope to see lots of faces for these events!
Students will be assessed again on the NWEA MAPS testing in January. We will be able to see how much progress they have made in Reading and Math. We invite families to ask us any questions you may have about the results.

Notice to Parents and Guardians:
Free Tutorial Services
Benson Village School received notice from the Vermont Agency of Education that we have been identified as a school in need of improvement based on our student performance in the area of Math on the New England Common Assessment Program (NECAP) scores from 2013. We are entering Year 3 of school improvement this school year based on not achieving AYP in Math or Reading last year and this year.
Federal and state guidelines require all identified schools like BVS to notify parents of this status. Further, we notify families with a child(ren) who receive or are eligible for free lunch that Supplemental Educational Services (SES) monies are available to them for free tutorial services.
Parents can choose a tutoring service from the state approved provider list which can be found by clicking on the following link.
If you would prefer a paper copy of this list, we will be happy to provide that. If you are interested in securing these services for your child(ren) please contact us no later than October 1, 2014. These services will become available again in January of 2015.
Please feel free to call the school and speak with Ms. Doty for more information about Supplemental Education Support Services or with general questions.
