Notice to Parents and Guardians:
Free Tutorial Services
Benson Village School received notice from the Vermont Agency of Education that we have been identified as a school in need of improvement based on our student performance in the area of Math on the New England Common Assessment Program (NECAP) scores from 2012. BVS did make Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in all categories for Reading. We are entering Year 2 of school improvement this school year based on not achieving AYP in Math or Reading last year and not achieving AYP in Math this year.
Federal and state guidelines require all identified schools like BVS to notify parents of this status. Further, we notify families with a child(ren) who receive or are eligible for free lunch that Supplemental Educational Services (SES) monies are available to them for free tutorial services.
Parents can choose a tutoring service from the state approved provider list which can be found at the following website: EDU-SES Vermont Approved Providers. If you would prefer a paper copy of this list, we will be happy to provide that. If you are interested in securing these services for your child(ren) please contact us no later than October 1, 2013. These services will become available again in January of 2014.
As always, please give me a call should you have any questions.
