Notice to Parents and Guardians:
Free Tutorial Services
Benson Village School received notice from the Vermont Department of Education that we have been identified as a priority school based on our student performance in the area of Math on the New England Common Assessment Program (NECAP) Scores from 2013. Benson Village School notifies all parents that we did not meet Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in the area of Mathematics and entered Year 2 School Improvement.
Federal and state guidelines require all identified schools like BVS to notify parents of this status. Further, we notify families with child(ren) who receive or are eligible for free or reduced lunch that Supplemental Educational Services (SES) monies are available to them for free tutorial services. These tutorial services are free and would help students do better in school. Currently there are no students participating in these services.
Parents can choose free tutoring that best fits their child’s needs. These tutorial services must be provided by state approved providers. The list of state approved tutorial services can be found on our website or by contacting the school. BVS will assist parents with obtaining Supplemental Educational Services from approved providers if interested. The cost of transportation to and from services provided by these state approved providers is not covered. Parents should contact the school with any questions, or for support. Parents interested in securing tutorial services from a state approved provider should contact us by February 10, 2014. These services may be offered again beginning in the fall of 2014.
Please feel free to call the school and speak with Ms. Doty for more information about Supplemental Education Support Services or with general questions.

The purpose of Benson Village School is to provide a safe educational setting and quality educational services. Programs will be designed to support each student’s needs in order to assist them in reaching their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally. The teachers strive to build upon each student’s natural curiosity to become a self-motivated, life-long learner, who will be a contributing member of society.
